1-Step
Thermal Brite Transfer Paper
The premium textile paper for
Wax Thermal Printers
Specifications:
1-Step Thermal Brite consists of a base paper material
constructed for flatness, anti-static and moisture resistance.
The base paper is coated with a specially formulated material to
receive the wax thermal image and to assure its integrity
for heat-transfer purposes. The paper is manufactured in the
United States in an ISO 9000-certified facility.
Its weight is consistent with the recommended paper weight for
normal wax thermal printers.
The paper is converted into the standard paper sizes, vacuumed
and placed in an equilibrium for stability.
As required by the market, the paper is then packed in a humidity
controlled facility in resealable Ziplok bags
with a desiccant pack to ensure dryness.
Available Sizes:
A size 8.5 x 11.00 in. 216 X 279 mm stock size
Legal size 8.5 x 14.00 in. 216 X 355 mm stock size
B size 11.0 x 17.00 in. 279 X 432 mm stock size
B4 size 10.1 x 14.30 in. 256 X 363 mm stock size
Environmental issues:
Brite should be used consistent with the printer manufactures
recommended temperature ranges.
Brite should be stored in the resealable Ziplok bag, no higher
than 68°F (20°C) and not below 32°F (0°C).
Brite is free from any hazardous materials and releases no known
toxic substances or unpleasant fumes during application.
The expended backing paper is recyclable.
Heat Transfer Method:
Brite should be transferred for 8-12 seconds at 350°F (177°C) on a manual or air-operated heat transfer press.
Color Correction:
You should be aware that there will be a slight color shift in
your image when you apply it to the substrate material.
This is due to the remelting of the original printer wax when
exposed to the transfer application.
This remelt causes dot gain and image detail to gain size. The
eye perceives these gains as a change in color.
Additionally, the colors may melt and run together, just like
mixing paints. Generally, the colors appear muddy when compared
to the original.
You can, to some degree, compensate for this color shift using
the gray scale and gamma (color density) correction of your
drawing/printer program.
Gray-scale correction, on the other hand, allows you to adjust/correct
all of the color densities in order, from the darkest to the
lightest.
It may not be possible for you to arrive at fixed correction for
all images, but if your subject does not vary much you can record
the correction
values and positions and return to them for all heat transfer
prints. In the very worst case they will be a point of departure.
Most photo programs allow you to make these corrections in a
gamma editor.
This editor will show a graph giving a graphical representation
of the actual image (histogram), the zero correction line or
slope
(dotted line that goes from corner to corner) and the actual
correction line you create. The actual adjustment may be
accomplished by
clicking a button or by moving the actual curve with the mouse.
You will have to determine which method is used by your photo
program.
You should read your photo program's instruction manual or
documentation to become familiar with the actual commands and
methods.
It may be easier for you to make one print and transfer it to
fabric. Then adjust the gamma image on the screen to equal or
approximate the
printed image after transferring. Inverting the gamma's you see
on the screen will give you a close correction. The touch up can
then be
done in the color/density correction area.
Substrates:
Brite can be applied to any cotton, cotton/polyester,
polyester, nylon, rayon or silk that can withstand the
application heat of 375°F (200°C).
We suggest that you test a small piece of your intended fabric
under the actual application conditions before using Brite.
Washability:
Fabrics and garments can be washed in accordance with the
manufacturers' care labeling instructions.
There is no need to subject fabrics to special wash cycles. You
can iron over the applied surface with a normal home iron
or industrial heat transfer machine.
Packaging:
Brite is printed with back marker lettering to help you
determine the correct side to print in your copier or printer.
It is packed in 100-sheet quantities, in resealable Ziplok bags
with complete instructions and desiccant packs to insure dryness.
